La Secretaria General de Acción Exterior, Marian Elorza, reivindicó a los territorios atlánticos como “parte de la solución” para hacer frente a los graves problemas de contaminación y sobreexplotación que amenazan a los océanos.
La representante del Gobierno Vasco participó en la Cumbre One Ocean de Brest (Bretaña), convocada por la Presidencia francesa del Consejo de la Unión Europea, y posteriormente ha intervenido en el Foro de Regiones Costeras -organizado por la Conferencia de Regiones Periféricas Marítimas (CRPM)- en representación de la Comisión del Arco Atlántico, cuya presidencia ostenta Euskadi.

Marian Elorza ha formado parte de la representación de la Conferencia de Regiones Periféricas Marítimas (CRPM), en nombre de la Comisión del Arco Atlántico, cuya presidencia ostenta Euskadi. En su intervención en el Foro, Marian Elorza indicó que las evidencias sobre el estado de contaminación de los océanos “son muy preocupantes”, al tiempo que reivindicaba a los territorios que conforman la Comisión del Arco Atlántico como “parte de la solución”. “Somos conscientes de que no habrá transición verde sin AZUL para nuestros territorios”- aseguró.
En otro momento, se refería a la “larga trayectoria” de apoyo del Gobierno Vasco a las energías renovables marinas y aseguró que son numerosos los proyectos de I+D+i europeos dirigidos a reducir el impacto de basuras plásticas y microplásticos en el mar, que cuentan con la participación de AZTI. Así, anunció que próximamente el Gobierno Vasco va a firmar el Compromiso Global para una nueva Economía de los Plásticos. Finalmente, la representante vasca volvió a reclamar la creación de la Macrorregión Atlántica.

Finally, the Basque representative once again called for the creation of the Atlantic Macroregion.
