Iñigo Urkullu recibe a los 21 representantes del cuerpo diplomático de los Estados miembros de la Unión Europea acreditados en Madrid y defiende la importancia de compartir un diagnóstico, definir un futuro compartido, dialogar y llegar a acuerdos.

El Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu ha recibido al cuerpo diplomático de los Estados miembros de la Unión Europeaacreditado en Madrid, a los que ha dado la bienvenida a Euskadi Basque Country.
Al encuentro que ha tenido lugar hoy en Lehendakaritza, han acudido representantes de 21 países europeos, encabezados por el Embajador de Eslovenia Robert Krmelj, cuyo país ostenta la presidencia de turno de la Unión Europea. La reunión, a la que también han asistido la Secretaria General de Acción Exterior, Marian Elorza, el Director de Asuntos Europeos, Mikel Anton, y el Cónsul honorario de Eslovenia en Donostia-San Sebastián, ha servido para poner en común asuntos de actualidad en Europa como son la recuperación económica y social post pandemia, la gestión de los Fondos Europeos o la transición energética y el cambio climático.
En la intervención previa a la reunión, el Lehendakari Urkullu ha remarcado que Euskadi tiene vocación europea; y como muestra de la contribución a la “Visión del futuro de Europa”, ha ratificado la apuesta de Euskadi por una Europa social y competitiva; abierta, solidaria y sostenible; una Europa política, democrática y plural, en la que Euskadi cuente con su propio espacio. “Euskadi es un socio solvente, constructivo y fiable para Europa”, ha añadido.
Asimismo, especialmente en tiempo de pandemia, el Lehendakari ha resaltado la importancia de dejar atrás las políticas de confrontación, división y enfrentamiento, y compartir un diagnóstico, definir un futuro compartido, dialogar y llegar a acuerdos. “Este es el modelo que tratamos de desarrollar en Euskadi”, ha señalado.
Visita delgrupo diplomático europeo a Euskadi
La celebrada hoy ha sido la quinta reunión de trabajo del Lehendakari Urkullu con este grupo diplomático europeo desde el año 2013. En esta ocasión, han visitado Euskadi las y los embajadores de Alemania, Austria, Bulgaria, Chipre, Croacia, Dinamarca, Eslovaquia, Eslovenia, Estonia, Finlandia, Grecia, Hungría, Irlanda, Letonia, Lituania, Luxemburgo, Malta, Países Bajos, Polonia, Portugal y Suecia, así como una representante de la Comisión Europea.
La visita oficial del cuerpo diplomático a Euskadi dio comienzo el domingo, 17 de octubre y finalizará el martes, día 19. Además de la recepción con el Lehendakari, la agenda incluye un encuentro con la Presidenta del Parlamento Vasco, Barkatxo Tejería, y visitas a la Casa de Juntas de Gernika -donde será recibido por la Presidenta de las Juntas Generales de Bizkaia, Ana Otadui-, al museo Chillida Leku y al Basque Culinary Center. En el área tecnológica, la delegación tendrá ocasión de conocer el Centro de Investigación Aplicada de FP en Euskadi-Tknika, el Parque Tecnológico de Miramón y la empresa biotecnológica Viralgen, especializada en la producción de vectores virales para terapia génica.
Asimismo, el grupo visitará el Centro de la Biodiversidad de Euskadi (Torre Madariaga de Busturia) donde conocerá de primera mano la iniciativa Basque Green Deal, el modelo vasco para un desarrollo económico justo y sostenible, con la industria y la tecnología como principales palancas.
The president of the Basque Country Iñigo Urkullu received the European Union member state diplomatic corps accredited in Madrid and welcomed them to Basque Country.
Representatives from 21 European countries, led by Slovenia’s Ambassador Robert Krmelj, whose country holds the current presidency of the European Union, attended today’s meeting at the Presidency of the Government. The meeting, which was also attended by the General Secretariat for External Affairs, Marian Elorza, the Director of European Affairs, Mikel Anton, and the Honorary Consul of Slovenia in Donostia-San Sebastian, allowed discussion to take place on current issues in Europe, such as post-pandemic economic and social recovery, management of the European Funds and energy transition and climate change.
During the pre-meeting speech, President Urkullu highlighted the Basque Country’s European vocation, and ratified the Basque Country’s commitment to a social and competitive Europe that is open, solidarity and sustainable; a political, democratic and diverse Europe, in which the Basque Country has its own space, as a demonstration of the contribution to the “Vision of the future of Europe”. “The Basque Country is a solvent, constructive and reliable partner for Europe,” the president added, also highlighting the importance, particularly during these pandemic times, of leaving behind the policies of confrontation, division and conflict, and sharing a diagnosis, defining a shared future, dialogue and reaching agreements. “This is the model we are trying to develop in the Basque Country,” he said.
Visit of the European diplomatic group to the Basque Country
Today was the fifth working meeting held between the president of the Basque Country, Urkullu, and this European diplomatic group since 2013. Ambassadors from Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Sweden visited the Basque Country on this occasion, as well as a representative from the European Commission.
The diplomatic corps official visit to the Basque Country began on Sunday, 17 October, ending on Tuesday, 19 October. Apart from the welcome ceremony with the president, the agenda also included a meeting with the President of the Basque Parliament, Barkatxo Tejeria, and visits to the Gernika Assembly House, where they will be welcomed by the Bizkaia General Assembly President, Ana Otadui, the Chilida Leku Museum and the Basque Culinary Centre.
In terms of technology, the delegation will have the opportunity to visit the Vocational Training Applied Research Centre in Euskadi-Tknika, the Miramón Technological Park, and the biotechnology company Viralgen, which specialises in the production of viral vectors for gene therapy.
The group will also visit the Euskadi Biodiversity Centre (Torre Madariaga de Busturia) where they will get a first-hand look at the Basque Green Deal initiative, the Basque model for fair and sustainable economic development, mainly driven by industry and technology.

Gaur Lehendakaritzan egin den bileran, Europako 21 herrialdetako ordezkariak izan dira, Esloveniako Robert Krmelj enbaxadorea buru dutela, Europako Batasuneko txandako lehendakaria, hain zuzen. Era berean, pandemiaren garaian bereziki, Lehendakarik nabarmendu du garrantzitsua dela konfrontazio, zatiketa eta liskar politikak atzean uztea, eta diagnostikoa partekatzea, etorkizun partekatua definitzea, hitz egitea eta akordioak lortzea. «Hau da Euskadin garatzen saiatzen garen eredua», adierazi du.
Europako talde diplomatikoaren bisita Euskadira
Urkullu lehendakariak Europako talde diplomatiko honekin 2013az geroztik egin duen bosgarren lan-bilera. Oraingoan, Alemania, Austria, Bulgaria, Zipre, Kroazia, Danimarka, Eslovakia, Eslovenia, Estonia, Finlandia, Grezia, Hungaria, Irlanda, Letonia, Lituania, Luxenburgo, Malta, Herbehereak, Polonia, Portugal eta Suediako enbaxadoreek bisitatuko dute Euskadi, baita Europako Batzordearen ordezkaritza batek ere.
Diplomatikoek Euskadira egindako bisita ofiziala urriaren 17an hasi zen, eta hilaren 19an, asteartearekin, amaituko da. Lehendakariarekin izandako harreraz gain, Eusko Legebiltzarreko presidente Barkatxo Tejeriarekin bilduko dira eta Gernikako Batzar Etxea –Ana Otadui Bizkaiko Batzar Nagusietako presidenteak hartuko ditu–, Chillida Leku museoa eta Basque Culinary Center ere bisitatuko dituzte. Teknologiaren arloan, ordezkaritzak aukera izango du Euskadiko LHko Ikerketa Aplikatuko Zentroa-Tknika, Miramongo Teknologia Parkea eta Viralgen enpresa bioteknologikoa ezagutzeko. Terapia genikorako bektore biralen ekoizpenean espezializatua da Viralgen enpresa.
Halaber, taldeak Euskadiko Biodibertsitate Zentroa bisitatuko du (Busturiako Madariaga Dorretxea), eta bertatik bertara ezagutuko du Basque Green Deal ekimena, garapen ekonomiko bidezko eta iraunkorrerako euskal eredua, industria eta teknologia palanka nagusi direla.
